Rock Stars of Emerging Technologies

About the Event

This is one of the most exciting and potentially disruptive times to be in business, as a host of emerging technologies are coming to market that will add increased intelligence and new capabilities to business applications—from relatively simple IoT devices to the most complex IT systems, processes and services. At this conference, executives from industry-leading companies will provide key insights on six emerging technologies:  artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, distributed analytics and network visualization, quantum computing, and 5G. The executives will explain these technologies’ impacts on digital services and IT; highlight lessons learned from early implementations; describe current capabilities and advancements expected in the near- and longer-term; explain how to use the technologies strategically for your business, and describe how to identify and plan for implementation challenges.

Why Attend?

Get answers to these critical questions:

  • Deep Learning

What are the promises of deep learning on business?  The science of Deep Learning develops efficient algorithms for unsupervised or semi-supervised feature learning and hierarchical feature extraction from large-scale unlabeled data. Is this the technology solution that your businesses can use to analyze the massive amounts of data becoming available?

  • Machine Learning

Machine Learning is becoming a key technology that influences C-Suite decisions. Within the field of data analytics, machine learning is a method used to devise complex models and algorithms that lend themselves to prediction. Does your organization employ the proper analytical models that allow your researchers, data scientists, engineers, and analysts to "produce reliable, repeatable decisions and results" ?

  • 5G

Will 5G networks facilitate new use cases that include

  • Telemedicine diagnosis and prescription
  • The massive connectivity of the Internet of Everything which includes consumer, business and manufacturing industries
  • Learn what new services, solutions, and products 5G make possible with speeds of 100x faster than our current 4G LTE. You will understand how these enhancements will have a transforming affect your business.

  • Quantum Computing

Quantum computers may be able to efficiently solve problems which are not practically feasible on classical computers. Major companies such a Google and many national governments and military agencies are funding quantum computing research in an effort to develop quantum computers for civilian, business, trade, environmental and national security purposes. Get expert insights on the possibilities Quantum computing might provide to your business.

  • Distributed Analytics and Network Visualization

Understand how distributed analytics architectures that capitalize on pervasive, secure Internet of Everything network architectures will eventually become knowledge sharing networks.

Key takeaways:

After participating in this event, you will have

  • Actionable insights on how to incorporate new, emerging technologies that threaten to disrupt operations.
  • Critical strategies you can apply to your specific business.
  • An opportunity to Interact with C-Level executives in a Q&A and interactive panel format to get answers to specific questions.

Speakers

Brent Schneeman
Brent Schneeman - Director, Data Science - HomeAway, part of the Expedia, Inc. family of brands

Brent Schneeman - Abstract and Bio

Brent Schneeman: Machine Learning in the Vacation Rental Space

Abstract: HomeAway has over 2 million properties and millions of travelers acting in a complex two-sided marketplace. Every property is different, every traveler is unique, and the combination of this diverse 'inventory' exposes complexity and scale best addressed by machine learning. This talk tells the story of HomeAway's efforts to leverage machine learning in Sort, Marketplace Design, and discovering visitor intent.

Bio: Brent Schneeman joined HomeAway in 2010 and focuses on strengthening the data science muscle in the company. As Director, Data Science, he looks after the team of data scientist who acts as an internal consultant on a diverse set of machine learning projects such as continuous optimization, customer website behavior and applying natural language processing techniques to unstructured data. A storyteller, Brent has presented at South By Southwest and has given many technological talks. Prior to joining HomeAway, Brent worked at PayPal, Visa, and other small and large companies. He has one degree in Mathematics and another in Electrical Engineering and lives in Austin Texas with his wife and three kids and spends most of his free time mowing the lawn

Dario Gil - Abstract and Bio

Dario Gil: Quantum computers are real and they are here – what will you do with them?

Abstract: In the mid-20th century, Claude Shannon taught us to think of information abstractly as bits, 1’s and 0’s, separate from their physical embodiment or even their meaning. That was a beautiful idea, which launched the information age. But, despite all of the computational advances we have created and experienced, there are still many important and relevant problems which our “classical” computers cannot, and will not, solve.
